Products And General Information

CBD is short for Cannabidiol, which is one of over 100 compounds known as phytocannabinoids that are produced naturally by the cannabis plant. The oil is secreted from the plant and extracted to make CBD. CBD has long been associated with its ability to provide overall wellness benefits as it interacts with the body’s own endocannabinoid system.

CBD is related to another phytocannabinoid, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the active compound that causes the “high” people get from cannabis. Although closely related, CBD does not cause the high or any psychoactive effects because CBD and THC affect different receptors in the brain and body.

We all have an endocannabinoid system and it is essential for regulating and maintaining balance in our lives. Our endocannabinoid system has CB1 receptors that are found primarily in the brain and central nervous system, and CB2 receptors that are found mostly in the peripheral organs and immune system.

Together, these receptors affect our ability to manage stress, hunger, pain perception, blood pressure, energy level, mood, and a host of other physiological processes.

The endocannabinoid system interacts with and receives CBD molecules (similar to a lock and key) and distributes the CBD throughout the body.

Hemp is a cannabis plant. Fiber is extracted from the stem and used to make fabrics, paper, rope and other products. Hemp seed oil is extracted from cannabis seeds and does not contain CBD or any cannabinoids and is not the same as CBD-rich oil.

CBD oil is extracted from the flowers and leaves of the cannabis plant, along with beneficial cannabinoids and terpenes, which provides the therapeutic benefits.

Industrial hemp is genetically inferior because it does not provide therapeutic benefits. Synergy by Matrix does not use industrial hemp.

No. You cannot overdose on CBD. Even if you take thousands of milligrams at once, which is unlikely, research has not shown any harmful side effects.

Yes. The need to control the dose with CBD is much different from needing to control the dose with cannabis that has THC. Because CBD with zero THC has no psychoactive effects, you don’t have to worry about “getting too high” or not being able to function or think clearly.

There are many ways to control dosage with CBD. With tinctures, using the dropper that comes with the bottle allows you to measure how much CBD you get. Softgels have a specific amount of CBD in each softgel so you determine how much you need. Vape cartridges release a specific amount of CBD with each inhale. Depending on the CBD content of your product, the number of inhales will let you know how much CBD you’re getting.

Too much CBD at once may cause heart palpitations, or the perceived abnormality of the heartbeat. If this happens simply reduce the amount of CBD you are taking until you find the dose that is right for you.

The quality of CBD you consume makes a big difference in its effectiveness. Because THC free CBD is non psychoactive you won’t feel a dramatic difference as with THC products that get you “stoned”. You also may not feel a dramatic difference as you would with typical pharmaceutical drugs people are used to taking. The effects of high quality CBD can be subtle but quite effective. According to research, it takes about 30 days to “wake up” the endocannabinoid system so that the CBD can start getting the body in balance.

You may pass a drug test with THC-free products but you may not pass drug tests with other Broad Spectrum and Full Spectrum CBD oil with trace amounts of THC even at 0.03%. If you fail a drug test using a commercial drug test kit, go to a professional lab to have the test performed again. Many of the professional labs have advanced equipment that can tell the difference between CBD and THC. It is often the amount of THC in the body that employers and others are looking for.

There are many ways to administer CBD.  You can choose one or more of the methods below that fit your needs.  You may need to experiment to find the best method that works for you.

Tincture

Tinctures are a liquid CBD extract and are excellent for people who want to control their dosage, for people who can’t keep food down, or who have a suppressed appetite.  Consumers can squeeze a few drops or a dropper full under the tongue and hold it there for 1-2 minutes before swallowing. This allows the CBD to be absorbed into the body.  The benefits of tinctures are there is no irritating smoke, it’s fast acting, there is no smell, and it can be used discreetly.

Topical

Topicals, also known as balms or salves, are delivered through the skin using a full CBD extract.  Topicals absorb into the skin and work quickly with no side effects. These are great for people who want localized relief.

Vaporization

Vaporizers or Vapes are the fastest method for administering CBD.  Approximately 20-30% of the cannabinoids can be absorbed through vaporization.  Vapes heat the CBD oil to extract the cannabinoids.  The temperature is too low to release harmful toxins so it minimizes the health risks normally associated with smoking. The biggest benefit people report about using a vape or vaporizer is that there is no odor on the breath or in the air, vapes are portable and are great for people on the go.

Edibles

Ingesting CBD by mouth through the form of edibles are very popular, and are usually in the form of gummies.  This method may last longer than other forms of CBD consumption, however, because they must pass through the liver some of the CBD potency may be lost.

Softgels

Consuming CBD through softgels are a good balance between edibles and concentrates.  Softgels have the CBD oil inside and are swallowed and digested like an infused product.  Softgels are a great way of getting a consistent dose of CBD.

CBD with less than 0.3% THC is legal in all 50 states. When the Hemp Farming Act of 2018 (2018 Hemp Bill) became law on December 20, 2018 it removed hemp with less than 0.03% THC on a dry weight basis from the Controlled Substances Act. It does not have the intoxicating compound THC found in cannabis. CBD is made from Hemp, which is legally defined as a cultivar of Cannabis sativa with very low to no concentrations of THC.
Because of this ruling, hemp-derived CBD products can now be purchased online or over-the-counter throughout the country just as you would buy nutritional supplements. Some CBD products does contain more than 0.03% THC and can only be purchased in states with adult use (recreational) laws or by certain patients with a medical marijuana card.
